KASIM’s futuristic single, “Veil,” is abstract art featuring downtempo synthscapes, and minimalist, despondent vocals. KASIM is self-described as, “Art from robots with fractal souls.” Their music is recommended for fans of Trentemøller and Apparat. The music video for “Veil,” produced by AG Film Corp, is an inexplicable music video riddled with more questions than answers. Even more cryptic is the puzzling description of their music video, “Shot in 2042 inside

I had the opportunity to speak with Arthur Delaney, of HÆLOS. Through our conversation, I discovered that HÆLOS embodies a stark contrast to the typical machinations of the music industry. Their lyrics are raw and honest, challenging the status quo. They’ve complemented this potent lyricism with shimmering vocals, trip-hop melodies and an impressive display of musicality from each of the members: Dom Goldsmith, Lotti Bernardout, and Arthur Delaney. HÆLOS has been frequently

It’s a scorching summer weekend. You’re en route to the beach: driving down the highway with the windows down and the stereo blasting your tunes. What music is bumping on your stereo? I can’t help but imagine it’s none other than the infectious track by Tom Misch titled, “Beautiful Escape (feat. Zak Abel).”  This song is off of Beat Tape 2, released in August 2015. The song is a glorious blend of jazz guitar cadences, trip-hop beats, and the luscious, soulful stylings

Cleopold is a force to be reckoned with as an emerging Australian artist and songwriter. Just this week, he commenced a tour of the US upon the release of his debut EP, Altitude and Oxygen. His music ranges from downtempo to R&B grooves that are sexy and incredibly infectious. I had the chance to speak with Cleopold while he was on route to Firefly Music Festival and Washington, DC for his

For a melancholic mood, I’ve been listening repeatedly to this achingly beautiful piece, “Maasai.” This is the debut single from the Portuguese, one-woman band, Surma. One can anticipate haunting vocals, shimmering guitars, experimental percussion and a downtempo vibe. Her vocals are reminiscent of Björk and Jana Hunter of Lower Dens. According to her label, Omnichord Records, her debut EP will be released in November 2016. In the meantime, check out the music video for “Maasai,” directed by Eduardo Brito.
