Blisspop’s Lost & Sound: Back from the Dead
We buried it, but it came back. And it found us. And it was strong, strange and ravenous. And it said, ‘I want more. I want you. Hold my hand and let’s get unusual together.’
Lost & Sound is back. A party strictly for the weirdos, miscreants and those who like to explore new ground, sounds, themselves, and others. We’ve moved the party to one of our favorite spaces in the city – a small, dark underground club in the basement of 9:30 Club, called Backbar. Just enter through the side door of the 9:30 Club and come down the rabbit hole with us.
Blisspop residents Chris Nitti and Lxsx Frxnk will be spinning. We’re also very pround and excited to present the DJ debut of Slava (aka Blisspop contributor Stephen Jefferson).

Forward Festival Announces Initial Lineup
Our good friends over at 88 have released some juicy details about this year’s Forward Festival programming. It’s been confirmed that the five day DC mini-festival, now in its fifth year, will host two label showcases — Jus Ed’s Underground Quality and SF-based Frite Nite — as well as a back-to-back DJ set from Detroit legend Rick Wade and his former label mate Dan Bell. Festival goers will also be treated to the bass heavy sounds of Distal and what should be a very special Jeff Mills hybrid Live/DJ/AV performance at U Street Music Hall. As has been the case in previous years, the festival will also include various workshops, art installations and auxiliary events. For more details check out the full announcement here.
Festival passes are currently $90 – the price will be going up soon so grab yours today if you haven’t already.
And stay up to date on all thing Forward on Facebook and Twitter.

Interview with Ewan Pearson
Reading lists, life on the road and what’s in store for 2012 were all touched upon when we chatted with DJ, producer, remixer and published author Ewan Pearson. Ewan has been a fixture in the dance music world for over 15 years. His remix credits include Moby, The Chemical Brothers, Freeform Five and Depeche Mode. He has produced albums for the likes of Tracy Thorn, The Rapture and most recently Footprintz. Not to mention most of his weekends are still spent playing records in clubs all around the world. 40 is around the corner, but he admittedly has no plans to slow down anytime soon.
Blisspop will be hosting Ewan at U Street Music Hall tomorrow night, Feb 22, along with Protect-U of Future Times. Doors are at 9 pm and it’s free for 21+ ($5 for 18-20). RSVP here.
Interview with J.Phlip
Blisspop had the pleasure of catching up with Dirtybird darling Jessica Phillippe, better known as J.Phlip. After what she considers her best year yet as a producer, we talked managing dancefloor expectations, pets (both the label and the little furry ones) and what’s in store for 2012.
Make sure you check her out tonight at U Street Music Hall alongside Jesse Rose and local support Jubilee. RSVP here.
