Zombies For Money – Sacanagem (mp3)
Gotta just pick one song at random cause I like all the stuff the
Zombies from portugal have been doing. Cannot loose.
Polkadots 2010 – Oliver Twitz Remix (mp3)
Im putting this track in because it’s responsible for the whole top
row of keys on my laptop no longer working. Never play this late at
night in a dark crowded room full of people.
Outputmessage is back at it again with a brand new remix of Robyn’s “None of Dem”. This one is most certainly a dance-floor killer and going straight to the top of my summer playlist.
Continually pushing capacity at U Street Music Hall, Will Eastman’s forward-looking dance party, Bliss, returns on Saturday, July 24th with special guest DJs Dominique Keegan and Andrew Jaye. For nearly a decade, Bliss has ignited a fire among its patrons with a no attitude, just fun and “insane dancing” agenda. Its mission statement is to get its patrons in trouble, intoxicated and in love. This time, with fellow Plant Music label mate Dominique Keegan and local DJ Andrew Jaye, Bliss is set to reach a new peak of uninhibited stark raving dancefloor madness.
Canadian synth-poppers Dragonotte are fronted by the foxy vixen of a singer songwriter Martina Sorbara and backed on bass, guitar, and drums by her male bandmates: Dan Kurtz, Chris Hugget, and Joel Stouffer respectively. Dragonnet combine remarkably versatile and complex synth layers with loud fuzzy guitar, all driven by unrelenting, bouncing dance beats, to create catchy dance-rock that is smeared with bright red lipstick and dripping with sex appeal. Their sophomore release Fixin’ To Thrill and their subsequent world tour has won them a giant wave of new fans, don’t get left behind, catch a ride and take a listen. Dragonotte will be at the Rock ‘n’ Roll Hotel on August 15th.
With a bit more guitar and a bit less synth, Cut Copy describe their new single “Where I’m Going” perfectly: “[It's] the kind of track Brian Wilson would’ve written if he took ecstasy and hung out in 60′s London instead of California”. The semi-durastic change of pace can be largely attributed to mixer Ben Allen (Animal Collective’s MPP), who is known for his love of ethereal tones and sweeping melodies. Although the band is giving away the single for free, you won’t be able to cop the full album until early 2011.
Welsch trio The Joy Formidable capture the essence of high tempo dance-rock on their debut EP A Balloon Called Moaning. The EP was recorded the band’s basement studio, producing an energy that is often lacking in modern indie-rock. Can’t imagine their live show being anything less than spectacular…
On July 27th, Melbourne trio Clubfeet will drop their debut album, Gold On Gold on Plant Music. The album received stellar reviews across the board, and I must say that after only a few full listens, I am completely hooked. Riddled with dark synth- laced hooks and delicate layered vocals, Clubfeet evoke honest emotion without taking themselves too seriously. They also rock the fuck out the glockenspiel (which pretty much sold me from get-go).
Russ Chimes does a number on Mark Ronson’s long awaited single “Bang Bang Bang”, transforming the synthed-out retro tune into a certifiable dance floor hit. ”Bang Bang Bang” will be included on Ronson’s upcoming LP, Record Collection, out this September.
